Eastern Visayas State University volleyball girls emerged successfully as the overall champion and also gathered two individual awards at the Shakey’s Volleyball League, held in City Engineers office Gym.

It was last November 8, when EVSU team defeated Leyte National Highschool (LNHS) at the final game, successively winning all the sets. The EVSU volleyball girls team was composed of Marie Toni Basas, Jersey no. 4; Anna Laire Basas, Jersey no. 1; Shane Marnilow Pedrosa, jersey no. 9; Karen Caones, jersey no. 6; Charmaine Escarlan, Jersey no. 8; Toni Rose Basas, Jersey no.10; Zarah Mae Balbuna, Jersey no. 2; Regine Bayona, Jersey no. 7; Sweetzan Petilos, Jersey no. 3; and Renelle Dondonilla, Jersey no. 11.

The team having Shane Marnilow Pedrosa proclaimed MVP and Marie Toni Basas as the most spiker made the day more rejoicing. “Listening to the instructions of our coach, observing the weaknesses of each team and especially ‘teamwork’” as the MVP Shane Pedrosa stated, is the secret to their winning glory.

To win the National Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League this coming Nov. 19-22 in Cebu City would be the next goal of the EVSU volleyball girls team.
